An Analysis of the Relationship Between the Ningxiang Dialect and the Regional Culture

The forming and evolution of the Ningxiang dialect is related with administrative subordination, geography,traffic, population migration and religious belief in the historical periods. Because of geographical,historical and traffic factors, Ningxiang dialect is both similiar and different with Changsha dialect and Yiyang dialect. With the entrance of Jiangxi immigrants, Ningxiang dialect has been clearly influenced by characteristics of Gan dialect. With its vocabulary enriched by Buddhism and the witch culture, the folk culture exerts great influence upon the linguistic style of the region.
