Abstract: | Abstract This article has the intention of working and re-working the meaning and outcome of the ending of professional relationships, particularly in relation to social workers and their clients, whether children, young people, or adults. It is taken that endings in such relationships may re-awaken earlier losses. The article further considers the teaching of the topic at pre-professional stages, and during social work courses for both undergraduates and postgraduates. Examples are given of students' practice which illustrate the way in which endings may demonstrate growth through the experience. |
