On the Archetypical Theme of "Run-away from Home"in Chinese Modern Drama

As a request of fundamental human living and mentality, "run-away from home" remains an important archetypical theme of the literary works at home and abroad, and is demonstrated fully in modern Chinese drama. In traditional Chinese culture, to run away from home is a dreadful event. Nevertheless, modern Chinese dramatists break away from this ideological and emotional pattern in pursuit of western cultural heritage and modern mentality of "being on the way". Their exploration of archetype connotations is closely connected with the main social issues of the time, which makes them satisfied with portraying the social struggle and restrained in exploration of philosophical connotations.
