A Study of Contribution of Romanticism to the Modern Chinese Literary Theory

The idea of romanticism has become the artistic spirit of modern Chinese literature. The study of romanticism in China has gone through five forms of theoretical interpretation in the process of establishing modern Chinese literature. In the contest between the romantic and the realistic, the romantic study deepened the understanding of Chinese art and literature, and finished the modernized structure of native system of aesthetics of art and literature. The history of the modern Chinese literary theory of 20th century almost became the history of defense for the hundred-year romanticist spirit.
