Influence of Religion on the Customary Law of the Ethnic Minorities of Western China

Religious taboos are the earliest customary law but later development witnessed a gap between customary law and religious practices.The religious background of the customary law among the ethnic minorities,which have significant influence upon the implementation of the customary,manifests itself in three aspects:customary derived from religious taboos,the reinforcement of the sublimity of the customary law by means of religious ceremonies,and arbitration of secular conflicts through divine judgment.
