非洲的人口增长与生态环境退化

Population Growth and Ecological Environment Deterioration in Africa

Population has been growing rapidly since 1950s in Africa, which leads to the reduction of cultivatable area, the drop of per capita output of grain, and the shortage of firewood. In order to solve these problems, African people take measures to shorten the period of fallow, to expand the cultivatable area, and to cut down the forest. These acts have brought about the ecological disturbance and environment deterioration. The fact presented above tells us that if people want to live in a good condition, they must protect the ecosystem. The control of the speed of population growth plays an important part in the protection through the coordination of relations between man and his environment.
