Zhang Dainian's Theory of "Reason" in Chinese Philosophy

The philosophical concept " reason" appeared during the Pre - qin period and then changed gradually into Confucian school of idealist philosophy during the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Zhang Dainian attaches importance to the study of "reason" discussed and explored deeply both in his former and latter papers. Its basic meanings and historical development are revealed. His researches have brought about possibility for us to have a better understanding of multi-meanings of "reason" and characteristics of Chinese philosophy.
