| Abstract: | An introduction to the requirements for CET-4 writing and the grading system. Then we make an analysis of the major problems we discover in the CET-4 writing compositions, which we believe focus on the passage structure and linguistic skills, and can fall into three types-attachment, hit-and-run, and cashier's account. And we develop a practical approach that ESL teachers may boost the students' writing level by means of assessment of both the theme and the topic, determination of the passage mode, and development of topic sentences and paragraphs. |
