| Abstract: | Based on the corpus of Hong Lou Meng(Dream of The Red Chamber),this paper sets out to make a qualitative and quantitative study of the way whereby various"ku"("to cry",literally) was described in the classic Chinese vernacular novel,with an aim to find out why and how different"ku"was chosen to depict the manner of the multiple characters when they"cried"in the book. |
