Family Misfortune in the Eyes of Adolescents from Divorced Single Parent Family:Risk and Recommendations

What kind of impact does parental divorce bring to the life chance of adolescents？ Based on 38 case studies with deep interview on adolescents including 20 from divorced single parent families and 18 from intact families, this article describes and analyzes their growing experiences. The research finds out that, compared to their peers from intact families, parental divorce has brought a series of risk effects on adolescents in single parent families. These effects are unequal effects, two- way exclusion effects and assimilation effects.
