On Examination of Translator 'Identity from the Viewpoint of Intertextuality

The "Intertextuality" theory,a post-modernist thought,initiated from semiotics and attended to by literary critics,caused great impact on the traditional translation theories.It reminds scholars who take up translation study and practice of investigating the relationship between translation and "Intertextuality"which adds a new dimension to translation study.The "Intertextuality"theory makes translation an exchange of different texts,thus completely subverting the original author's authority in traditional translation theories and endowing translators with three identities i.e.reader,interpreter and author. This paper expounds how translators realize the exchange of texts in translation in accordance with the above-mentioned three identities respectively.
