冷战结束后伊朗与美国关系经历了相互攻讦、谨慎接触以及"9.11"后激烈对抗三个阶段。伊美为了各自的战略和安全利益,在中东和平进程、恐怖主义和大规模杀伤性武器特别是伊核问题上存在严重分歧,展开激烈对抗,其实质是美国的全球战略利益与伊朗的地缘政治战略利益、美国的中东战略利益与伊朗的国家安全利益之争。受伊美国内政治、伊核问题、伊朗与以色列关系及中东和平进程等因素的影响,未来伊美关系难以得到实质性改善。

In the post - Cold War Era, Iranian - U.S. relations experienced three phases: mutal accusation, careful contact and antagonism after September 11. For their own security and strategic interests, Iran and America have serious dispute and intense confrontation over the peace process in the Middle East, terrorism and weapons of mass destruction, especially Iran's nuclear capability. The crux of the matter is the conflicts of American global strategic interest and Iranian geopolitical, strategic interest and American strategic interest in the Middle East and Iranian national security interest. Under the influence of domestic politics of the two sides, Iranian nuclear problem, Iran - Israel relations and peace process in the Middle East, Iranian — U.S. relations will not see quick improvement.
