| Abstract: | Slang words emerge early in Chinese and are collected in dictionaries of past dynasties.Some slang words are explained in modern dictionaries.Nevertheless,there have not been clear conceptions about the definition,nature and characteristics of slang words.The definition,its difference from common saying and proverbial,and the nature and coverage of slang are discussed. |
