面子论视角下汉英建议礼貌策略的比较研究

在Brown ＆ Levinson面子观的指导下比较汉、英两组建议言语行为礼貌策略的使用类型与频率结果表明，汉、英两组被试行为都极少直接向对方提建议，也不会太过间接、委婉，而是在明确建议的同时采用相应的面子补救策略，这支持了Brown＆Levinson的礼貌普遍性理论。两种语言间相同的言语行为又具有各自的礼貌特性：汉语被试在实施建议言语行为时倾向于使用消极礼貌策略，英语被试则倾向于使用积极礼貌策略，并且汉语被试在实施建议言语行为时更多地考虑彼此间的权势关系。

A Comparative Study on Politeness Strategies in Chinese and English from the Perspective of the Face Theory

Under the framework of Brown and Levinson’ s Face Theory, the study investigates the types and frequency of politeness strategies between Chinese and English. The results show that both Chinese and English seldom make suggestions too directly or indirectly, rather they employ corresponding face-saving strategies with explicit suggestion, which support Brown and Levinson ’ s politeness universality. The same speech acts between two languages have their respective politeness features： The Chinese tend to use negative politeness strategies while the English are more inclined to adopt positive ones when making suggestions. What’ s more, the Chinese take into consideration the social power relationship between each other much more than the English.
