Analysis and anti-policy of the intellectual property rights' characteristics of geographical indications

Although geographical indications are not independent object of the intellectual property rights, they have the attributes of it. They indicate the relationship of products and particular environment and symbolize the particular quality and prestige of products. TRIPs, the most newest international convention protecting geographical indications, regulates the common standards, special protection and exception. And the newly revised Trademark Law and the Implementing Rules of Trademark Law add the protection for it. All these reflect the international and Chinese legislation trend of it. Analyze the economic roots so as to discover its nature and put forward the author's opinion of geographical indications.
