Some of his thought and methodology of Corpus Linguistics are still instructive for the current corpus linguistic study. The present paper reviews the major thought and methodology of Charles C. Fries in corpus linguistics, for instance, to insist on the use of genuine and objective data, to focus on the eontrastive linguistic features, to advocate empirical methodology. Finally, it points out some flaws in Fries＇ thought and methodology.
