This paper points out that there was and is, in the Qing Dynasty and modern times, wrong understanding of the reason why Torgut Mongolians returned the motherland. It holds that four factors contribute to Torgut Mongolians' return to the motherland: Torgut Mongolians' connection with Erlut and other tribes being a major reason; the common belief in Buddhism being the bridge and link; The Qing government's concern for Torgut Mongolians being a decisive reason; the Tsar Russia's bullying and oppression being the direct cause of Torgut Mongolians' return. In this respect, the racial policies of the Qing Dynasty can not be denied.
