语境与语义的判断

语境与语义之间有着密不可分的关系 ,语境限定制约着语义。以语言文字形式出现的现实语境是判断一语言单位语义最直接的依据 ;广义的语境则由具体文字以外的一切抽象因素构成 ,它包括太多复杂的因素 ,因此较难把握。译者在翻译作品时 ,必须把多义的语言单位同具体的语境结合起来 ,才是正确理解原文的前提和基础

Context and meaning

Meaning is closely related to its context. Meaning is limited and restricted by context. The practical context that exists in the form of written language is the direct basis of the judgement of a certain language unit. Context in broad sense is composed of those abstract factors excluding the concrete words. It includes so many complicated factors that it is no easy job to grasp it at all. The translator must associate the polysemous language units with its context when he is translating a work. That is the prerequisite and basis of correct comprehension of the original text.
