全球化与民主化

二十世纪末，政治领域内最为巨大的变化就是民主化的浪潮正在席卷越来越多的国家。那么，民主化的原因何在？本文以新的视角分析认为，在时空压缩的全球化条件下，民族国家的民主化必然受到全球因素的影响。在厘定全球化实质与民主化内涵的基础上，本文分析了经济全球化通过改变社会和政治结构、全球化的信息交流渠道通过对自由民主价值观念的传播、以及国际事务治理机制和国际组织通过示范或引导，对民族国家民主化的促进作用；亦概括了全球化的反对者对此提出的质疑和批判。但本文坚持认为，虽然相互冲突的全球化过程可能对民族国家的民主化产生一定的负面影响，但更多的是启动了民主化进程。

Globalization and Democratization

At the end of the 20th century, the most significant change in the political field is the wave of democratization that swept across more and more countrieS. Then, what is the cause of democratization？ A new perspective is adopted in this paper and it is pointed out that democratization of the nation-states is affected by the global factors under the conditions of globalization in the compressed time and space. Based on the determination of the connotation of globalization and democratization in real terms, this paper analyzes the promoting role that economic globalization plays in the democratization of nation-states. Doubts and criticism raised by opponents of globalization are also summarized. Yet, the paper insists that globalization process has activated democratization process, even though conflicts may have a certain negative impact on democratization of nation-states.
