| Abstract: | English and Chinese speech act verbs are similar from the cognitive perspectives in some cases.This paper makes an analysis of the cognitive structures of English speech act verbs from such cognitive perspectives as distance proximity iconicity,figure-ground and image schema.It is hoped that the study can provide insights into the acquisition of English speech act verbs. |
