| Abstract: | The devastating San Francisco earthquake in 1906 destroyed the Chinatown and made it lay in the ruins. The ensuing displacements of tens of thousands of homeless overseas Chinese compatriots suffered from that catastrophe drew great attention of the Beijing Women's Class and led to the movements for relieving distress of those refugees and displaced victims. During the movements the earliest women's organization in Beijing history was established. |
