英美文学课是高校英语专业的传统科目。然而 ,英美文学课的教学活动如何开展 ,才能适应当代社会的需求 ,却是一个亟待解决的问题。本文试图以美国文学课的教学为例 ,说明文学选读或文学史等课程的教学要立足现在 ,联想过去 ,用文论指导 ,以红线贯穿 ,使之成为一个有机的整体 ,这样才能激发学生的兴趣 ,使教学得以顺利进行

Survey in Teaching American Literature

The courses of English and American literature are traditional courses for the English majors in colleges and universities. But how to teach these courses so as to meet the needs of the modern society becomes a pressing problem now. This article attempts to illustrate the necessity of teaching literature as an organic whole by example of American literature starting from the present and tracing back to the past with literary theories as guides and a red string for coherence. Thus the students' interests may be stimulated and the teaching and studying will be carried out.
