Modernity and The Problems of Study of Modern Chinese Literature

Modernity is not only a concept transported from the West, but the cultural situation of China during late hundred years. The modernity of China, as a result of absorbing and adjusting the modern spirit resource of the West, has two character: Westernization and progressing rationalism which has conduced to evolutionism and anxiety of following West in modern Chinese literature. The discourse of modernity provides a valid way to comprehend the contradiction and puzzledom in modern Chinese literature.
