Abstract: | In a recent California appellate decision, Wilson v. Blue Cross of Southern California, 222 Cal. App 3d 660, 271 Cal Rptr 876 (2d Dist., 1990), the court cut back on its earlier decision in Wickline v. State of California, 192 Cal. App. 3d 1630, 239 Cal Rptr 810 (2d Dist. 1986), which had provided substantial protection for third-party payers against liability for utilization review decisions. The Wilson decision not only limits Wickline to its particular facts, but also criticizes some of its rationale. |
