摩尔“善”的不可定义

千百年来,“善是什么”的问题一直缠绕着富于哲思的伦理学家们,虽然他们中的大多数都给出了关于“善”的定义,但是却没有一个定义能够全面准确的概括和表达出究竞什么是善。摩尔的《伦理学原理》一书,也从探讨“善是什么”的问题出发,试图找到善的定义。但是在经过详细阐发与分析,并批判地指出自然主义学家们所犯的谬误后,得出“善是不可定义的”的结论,从而开辟了“元伦理学”的新局面。

Moore's Undefined Goodness

As for the issue about ＂what is goodness？＂, experts in ethics have long been pondering over it for thousands of years. Despite its definition produced by most of the experts, nobody could produce a comprehensive and accurate definition about the nature of goodness. In his Principle of Ethics, Moore also tried to define goodness from the issue about ＂what is goodness＂. However, he arrived at his conclusion that ＂goodness is undefinable＂ after his careful examination and analysis about it;he also pointed out the fallacies of some naturalist scholars, hence opening up a new prospect of ＂metaethics＂.
