两汉时期的丧葬礼俗反映了封建社会初期的一些特点。儒家的三年之丧在社会上并不流行。对鬼神的迷信和孝观念的盛行使两汉兴起了厚葬之风。在土地私有制的基础上出现了封建的家族墓地。对祖先的祭祀在民间盛行 ,并出现了祭祀的场所———祠堂。

Brief Studies on the Funeral Customs in the Han Dynasty

Some characteristics of the earlier feudal society can be reflected in the funeral customs of the Han Dynasty. Observing mourning for three years, the funeral custom advocated by Confucianism, was not popular at the time. The custom of elaborate funeral was popular during the Han Dynasty due to people's belief in the existence of gods and ghosts and filial piety. On the basis of private ownership of land, the feudal family graveyards emerged. It was a folk custom for people to offer sacrifices to their ancestors. Ancestral temples thus emerged accordingly.
