美国总统选举政治对美国外交政策有较大影响。由于先天结构性方面的缺失,致使美国总统选举政治对其外交政策的影响以负面成分居多。从1952年以来的美国总统选举来看,美国总统选举政治对其外交政策的影响,以美国总统任期为序,可以概括为五种模式:频频出错的第一年模式;较有作为的第二年模式;应该有所作为的第三年模式;大多难有作为的第四年模式;大多有所作为的第二任期模式。

The Impacts of American Presidential Election Politics(APEP)on US Foreign Policy(1952-2004)

The American Presidential Election Politics(APEP) has significant impacts on US foreign policy.Since 1952 US Presidential election,the influences of APEP on US foreign policy can be characterized into five models as follow: the First-Year-Model: President as a diplomatic freshman and trouble-maker;the Second-Year-Model: most Presidents can successfully do something in foreign policy;the Third-Year-Model: Presidents should do something but they dare not;the Forth-Year-Model: most Presidents can't get any success in the field of foreign policy for the reasons of the APEP;the Second-Term-Model: most Presidents can do something successfully in the field of foreign policy.
