Epic English Translation and Cultural Explication——Based on the English Version of Tibetan Epic Gesar

Correctly explicating the cultural images is very important to literature translation because it closely relates to the accurate translation and its effective circulation.Tibetan Epic Gesar is full of cultural connotations and profound religious thoughts,which make it difficult to explain its cultural images in the process of English translation.Therefore the English translation of Gesar is limited in scale and depth.Based on the study of the existing English version,the writers of the paper believe that in the English translating practice of Gesar,the translation skills named "domestication" and "foreignization" should be combined,while exactly explicating its cultural images in religion is the key to English translation of Gesar.
