日本现代化的成功有诸多因素,中国是其中的一个重要因素。受古代中国文化的辐射和影响,日本形成了对于外来文化的心理和态度:主动学习,全面引进;选择、改造,自成体系。这为日本吸收西方文化提供了认识的基础和思维的方法。近代中国的失败对日本起了警世作用,中国一方面成为日本面对西方列强侵略的屏障,另一方面又成为日本侵略的对象,对中国的掠夺促进了日本资本主义的发展。

The Modernization of Japan, and China

Among the many factors that contributed to the success of the Japanese modernization , China was an important one. Under the influence of ancient Chinese culture, such psychology and attitudes toward foreign cultures began to take shape in Japan: learning and introducing from other countries; selecting, remolding, and forming its own system. These mental states and attitudes provided the basis for understanding and the methods of thinking about the absorption of the Western culture. The failure of modern China provided a warning to the Japanese. China served as a protective screen against the Western powers, and at the time the target of Japanese aggression. Indeed, Japan' s plundering in China helped with the development of the Japanese capitalism.
