Mao Zedong's Preferential Treatment to Captives and Ancient Arts of war

In ancient wars, it was a common practice to slaughter captives. Therefore, it is of historical significance for ancient strategists to put forward the ideas of preferentially treating the captives after summing up politics and military affairs. Mao Zedong associated the policy of preferential treatment to captives with proletariats＇ position, revolution purpose and historic task, and regarded it as an important political guideline to reform captive as to convert enemies into friends and ultimately into alliance. His practice and theory of preferential treatment to the captives is the succession, breakthrough and reform of ancient military thoughts, and has made great contribution to the practice and theory of proletariat mihtary fight.
