The World War II brought great damages to the U.K., not only politically, economically; but deeply in subverting people’ s belief, in attacking people’ s spiritual life, and removing the sense of existence significance as well as the sense of life e-valuation.After a short time of post -war silence, British women literature began to rise from mid -sixties.Based on surveying British women writing during the 20 years after the War, the essay tries to present and discuss the rich multi-theme features of it, fo-cusing on the text cases of the period written by Doris Lessing , Elizabeth Bowen, Jean Rhys, Iris Murdock, and Margaret Drabble in order to draw the conclusion that British women literature has already come out of the private space to touch the wide social life , has already gone beyond the limited personal experiences to step into the broad time and space of history .
