The Listener of the Great Sound of Being——On Professor Yu Hong's Attitude About Life and Death

The death of Professor Yu Hong is closely related with the basic questions he pursued. His suicide was not only due to the suffering of his body, but also the suffering of his heart. The reason of his suicide was not for the highest value mentioned by Nietzsche, but for the holy solicitude which was lost forever in modern life. His attitude about death differed from Foucault＇s mainly because he searched the homecoming route for the spirit, not for the formation of the real self in the pleasure of suicide, which was the basic target of Foucault＇s viewpoint. In all, Yu Hong was a real listener of the Sound of Great Being in the modern world.
