Intertextual Theory and Its Implications to English Translation of Ancient Chinese Legal Texts——A Case Study of the Tang Code

Structuralist approach of intertextual theory argues that literary criticism can locate,describe and stabilize the significance of a text even if that significance concerns an intertextual relation between a text and other texts,which offers a new perspective for translation studies.The thesis first gives a critical review of the structuralist approach of intertextual theory,pointing out its constructive nature in textual analysis,and then expounds its implications to translation studies.Finally,the translation of the Tang Code is utilized to verify how the structuralist approach of intertextual theory sheds light on the translation of Chinese ancient legal texts.
