浅析蒙元时期的天主教

成吉思汗建立蒙古帝国后,宣布信仰自由,允许各种宗教存在。元朝统治者入主中原以后,为了巩固地域辽阔的多民族国家的统治,继续实行开明的宗教政策,为各种宗教的发展提供了良好的契机。元朝政府一方面尊重各种宗教,另一方面也对其加强管理,设立崇福寺管理天主教,元朝政府与罗马教廷也互派使节进行了初步的接触,天主教传教士孟高维诺就是以罗马教廷正式使节的名义来华的第一人。
