| Abstract: | Before 1939, William Faulkner attracted attention of only a few critics, whose criticisms were full of misunderstandings and prejudices. At the same time, Chinese researchers gave some serious reviews and began to appreciate Faulkner. This thesis investigates the early Faulkner studies in the English world and China, rediscovering Shi Zhecun ' s study of Faulkner which has been overlooked for a long time in the academic community. |
