| Abstract: | This essay begins by introducing Chomsky＇s Minimalist Program in brief. Then it presents a summa- ry of its latest development, i.e. the phase-based theory of syntax. The essay iUustrates the derivational proeesses of some English sentences under this model. In consequence, it can be seen that the current assumptions of the theory can achieve more explanatory adequacy. |
