Application of Black box Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese medicine plays an important role in the development of the medical science. Unlike western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine considers the human body as a whole, attaches importance to the close relation between parts and the whole, emphasizes giving treatment based on differentiation of syndromes without affecting the normal vital activities of the human body. Western medicine makes use of anatomy to observe the substantial systems and organs whereas traditional Chinese medicine explores internal changes of the organism by observing external manifestations. This is very similar to the modern black box theory, which can be studied with reference to the formation of the theories of traditional Chinese medicine, its method of treatment based on differentiation of syndromes and the mechanism of Chinese drugs.
