中国古典诗歌翻译中的不可译性

中国古典诗歌形式整齐,内容丰富,韵律严格,修辞手段多样,是文学史上的瑰宝。然而中西文化与语言的巨大差异,意味着二语之间必然存在着不可译性。要将中国古典诗歌译为英文,让译诗读者与原诗读者同样领略到中国古典诗歌的好处更是困难。文章从诗歌内容、音韵和修辞手段三个方面举例分析了中国古典诗歌翻译中的不可译性因素。

The Untranslatability in Translation of Ancient Chinese Poetry

As a priceless treasure in literary history,ancient Chinese poetry is regular in form,rich in content,rigid in rhyme,and various in figures of speech.However,the immense difference between China and the western world in terms of culture and language determines the untranslatability between Chinese and English.It is even more difficult to translate ancient Chinese poetry into its English counterpart so that target readers can share with source readers the merits of such a Chinese literary antique.This article analyzes with sufficient examples the factors which cause untranslatablity in translation of ancient Chinese poetry,from several perspectives such as content,rhyme,figures of speech,etc.
