Abstract:As a philosopher and educator, Plato believed that poem was harmful to healthy growth of young people because poem was apart from truth, made lies and broke away from control of reason. Because of its strong causticity, strict censor should be implemented to poets and those so-called poets who publicized nonreason should be driven away from Utopia. But Plato did not really oppose poem and he believed that poem should sine for soul and serve utopia.
Keywords:philosophy and poem  truth and lie  reason and non-reason  to sing for soul
