| Abstract: | The sentence-completing element(SCE)is the modality attached to the proposition structure of a sentence in modern Chinese.Context and mood are indispensable in the completion of a sentence.Explicit SCEs include objective categories of tense-aspect and quantity-extent and subjective categories of capability-desire and probability.And the study of SCE will contribute to the formalization of the semantic research of Chinese sentences. |
