The Pragmatic Working Mechanism of the Explicit, Implicit and Vague Functions of Metaphor

The researches into the functions of metaphor largely fall on the classifications and brief illustrations of the explicit function; the pragmatic working mechanisms of the explicit and vague functions,including the explicit,have not been developed.The explicit and the implicit functions suggest respectively the convergence and the divergence between the metaphorical meaning,the metaphorical implicature,the emotion and the non-linguistic cues. For the vague function,the factors available are in such a way: the metaphorical meaning(clear),the metaphorical implicature(vague/clear),the metaphorical image(vague/clear),the emotion(vague/clear),the non-linguistic cues(vague).
