Abstract: | This article—the text of a talk given to faculty and students at the University of California, San Diego—summarizes the reflections of a veteran editor on the present challenge of publishing in the social sciences. This challenge is framed in terms of the cross-disciplinary opportunities in the areas of sociology, economics, and public policy analysis and stresses the importance of new, synthetic social scientific work in the solution to the conundrums of capitalism. |
