| 摘 要： | 交际的目的是取得最佳交际效果,即得体。委婉语是各种文化交际中都广泛使用的一种表达方式,是取得得体的交际效果的重要策略之一。英汉委婉语的得体性对交际背景和语用功能做出恰当反映的结果。

| Abstract: | The purpose of communication is for the most desirable effect, that is, for tactful effect. Euphemism is one of the most widely used rhetoric in every culture. Based on tact maxim in pragmatics, this paper analyzes the uses of euphemisms in both English and Chinese from the perspectives of communication context and their pragmatic functions. It holds that euphemism is one of the most important strategies to achieve such effect in communication. |
