Metaphoricity-the Fundamental Nature of Human Language

Analyzing the pervasiveness of the metaphorical basis in view of material, physiology and psychology, the inevitability of metaphorical language is expounded and proved. Metaphor, whose semantic features facilitate human cognition of the world, is the indispensable means of human cognition. The essence of metaphor is none other than the metaphorized human thinking, which results in the metaphoricity of human language. A conclusion is thus drawn that metaphoricity is an essential characteristic of human language and cognition mode.
