趣论

趣是我国古代文论中一个重要范畴,类型包括天趣、童趣、俚趣、奇趣、生趣、谐趣等,主要美学特征为天真、民态、新奇、灵动、诙谐。其实质是“反常合道”,即与理,与常规,与古板的对立,它始终代表着一种民间精神的展示,代表着新奇的艺术追求。其审美功能主要在于解颐、提神。趣的创造,有赖于天然与民间生活,更有赖于作家演员的灵气与机智。趣的创造应有一个度,由于它主要与民间精神相联系,所以,要仅防低俗。

On Gusto

Gusto is an important category in Chinese ancient literary theory,including such types as sky gusto,children gusto,vulgar gusto,queer gusto,crude gusto and harmonious gusto,whose main aesthetic characteristics are simplicity,demos,novelty,and agility.Its essence is abnormality and uprightness,i.e.,opposite to reason,routine,and starchiness.It has always been a display of the spirit of the folklore and a pursuit for originality.Its aesthetic function is mainly diversion and refreshment.The creation of gusto not only relies on savageness and folk custom,but also on nimbus and wit of the writers and actors.There should be a limit to the creation of gusto to avoid babbittry since it is related to folk spirit.
