| Abstract: | Based on a literature review and a data analysis,this paper explores the inequivalence of distal and proximate demonstratives between Chinese and English.With the parallel corpus of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland,it concludes that the inequivalence results from the pragmatic adjustment of psychological distance. |
