Liu Shipei’s Extending Research on Philology and Its Influence

Liu Shipei was one of the greatest scholars in Chinese traditional culture in the early 20th century.His impressive research in philology was an amalgam of traditional Chinese culture and western theories.In addition,Liu Shipei extended his research of philology into the fields of politics,history and sociology.He produced a wide range of works,including propaganda for modern revolution,explorations of remote times and criticisms of feudalism ideologies.He elevated the academic value of traditional Chinese philological studies,and helped lay the foundation for modern Chinese linguistics.
