Abstract: | In this article, the authors examine the characteristics of leisure that are of relevance in planning and look at some of the key leisure issues for the 1980s. The most fundamental question is how people will choose between extra income and more free time? This influences the rate of economic growth as well as the pattern of leisure activities. The authors see leisure as representing a cost, as well as an opportunity, for the U.K. in the 1980s.1 |
