| 摘 要： | 委婉语是人类语言中普遍存在的一种语言现象,是用语言来协调人际关系的一个重要手段。英汉委婉语由于文化差异在表现形式上虽有所不同,但就其语用功能来说基本相同。本文阐述了英汉委婉语的构成方式及使用原则,并就委婉语的使用动机浅析了英汉委婉语的五大语用功能,即:忌讳功能、避免粗俗的功能、掩饰功能、美化功能和幽默功能。

| Abstract: | Euphemism is important to harmonize interpersonal relations.Due to the cultural differences,Chinese euphemism is different from that of English,but they are almost identical in pragmatic functions.In this paper,the constituent ways of euphemism and principles of its use are talked about.At the same time,based on the speaker's motivation,five pragmatic functions are discussed: taboo,avoiding vulgarity,concealing,beautification and humor. |
