孙中山的一生固然是革命的一生,然而,作为“革命家”的孙中山,一生除暴力革命活动外,还有若干协商或议和活动,以往学界通常偏重于探讨或彰显其暴力革命的一面,而忽略甚至贬低其协商活动。所以如此,与20世纪国人对革命的误读及漫长的中国革命实践有关。事实上,孙中山政治思维有着革命与协商的两重性,这与其独特的教育背景及对现代政治文明的体认不无关联。

Between Revolution and Negotiation--A Study of the Duality of Sun Yat-sen''s Political Thoughts

There is no doubt that Dr. Sun Yat-sen spent all his life on revolution. Besides those radical activities negotiation and compromise can never be unseen throughout his revolutionary life. Researchers in this field, however, tend to emphasize his violent actions, and ignore, even disparage, those negotiable activities. The phenomenon is an immediate result of the Chinese misunderstanding of revolution and of Chinas long revolutionary experience in the 20th century. In fact, as is decided by his unique education background and his personal insight into modern political culture , the duality of violent revolution and peaceful negotiation characterizes Sun Yat-sen's political thoughts.
